Me'Aze Millioni - Music Without Voice - Instrumental Album (Jam Eazey Entertainment)
Me'Aze Millioni is someone I've known in the Baltimore scene for a few years now, since back when she was known as "Bosslady," as a promoter and label owner and generally just a person doing a lot of different things related to music without being an artist herself. But in the past year or two, she's shown some ambition as a producer, and I think she's collaborated with some MCs here and there and gotten some beats out there, but I hadn't really heard her work much until I got this new all-instrumental album she just released, which is available on CDBaby.com. It's kind of along the same lines as Ron Rico's instrumental CDs, but a little less developed, aesthetically or technically, since she's a less experienced producer. I don't know if she's got an eye on selling these beats to artists or if she completely intends them to be heard as they are here, as instrumentals, but it's an interesting record, 24 tracks covering a pretty wide variety of sounds, mostly mellow synthy beats.
Me'Aze Millioni - "Instrumental 18" (mp3)
This is the one I can probably most easily hear an MC on, it even kinda has separate sections that feel like a verse and a chorus.

various artists - B-More Vibe Magazine presents Watch This! (mixed by Musse' Mus)
The timing of this post is pretty unfortunate, because a couple months ago B-More Vibe Magazine released its first mixtape, and put on a great release party show for the occasion, but I'm now getting around to writing about the CD here just a few days after it was announced that B-More Vibe is no more. You can read the full announcement here, so all I'll say is that I have a lot of respect for what Rogue and Me'Aze Millioni tried to do with the mag, but knowing what the market is like for print publications these days, I totally understand their decision. I only contributed to B-More Vibe a little bit and always wished I did more, but it is what it is. Let's talk about what they did accomplish, though, because this CD is pretty dope, with new material from D.O.G., UnReal, Ms. Stress, Tha Profitt, B.O.M.B, PenDragon, and even Rogue herself. I was impressed that they got virtually every artist on the mixtape to perform at the release party, too.
Remstarr - "Know Me" (mp3)
I have to admit that the real reason I'm posting this song is that about 28 seconds into the track, Musse' Mus says "Government Names dot Blogspot dot com." I've heard my government name shouted out on mixtapes a couple times now, but this is the first time I've heard Government Names itself shouted out, which is pretty cool. The song is good, too, though, I've never posted anything by Remstarr before but I see dude all over MySpace all the time.

UnReal - Da F$$k Else U Want 4 Free (UnReality Ent.)
The last time I saw UnReal perform at the Turntable Club a couple months ago, he told me he was working on something big, and more recently he stopped by to drop of a copy of his new project. Apparently he's been kind of expanding his international audience, hooking up with DJs from France and shit, getting internet radio spins on "Making A Fool," and decided to put a free mixtape out on the internet to reach out to that audience. So you can click on a banner on his MySpace page and download the whole thing for free. And as I mentioned last week, he's got something happening with HipHopGame.com where he'll have ads and shit on their site, I guess soon, I don't see anything about him there yet. But I really think he's onto something, I respect the mixtape grind and actually going out and selling them, but giving that shit away for free seems like the way of the future right now. Ever since the DJ Drama raid, even the biggest DJs and artists are just giving new mixtapes away on the net, and while it's not really the same situation for unknown independent artists, I think we're gonna see more and more of that.
It's only 40 minutes long, and I don't rate it as highly as his last mixtape (which was, in my opinion, the 4th best Bmore hip hop CD of 2006), but like the title says, it's free, what the fuck do you expect. Aside from a handful of freestyles, there's a lot of good original beats by Akira, Me'Aze Millioni, and Top Secret (who did a lot of my favorite tracks on Dat Boyz A Problem). Anyway, the mixtape's free, so you can do download, and you should do that now, I think it might be just for a limited time only, but I'm gonna give you one track to preview first like I always do. I also really reccomend the track "It's Time" on his MySpace player.
UnReal - "Got 2" (mp3)
This is the last track, and at the beginning the host of the mixtape, DJ Vlad, does some shoutouts and my name in there, making this my 2nd mixtape shoutout to date that I know of, after this one. That's not why I'm posting this song, though, I'm posting it because it's one of my favorite tracks and it's produced by Akira The Great, who deservingly won the Great American Beatman Battle recently.

GET WELL SOON SONNY BROWN

Me'aze "Bosslady" Millioni just announced this very unfortunate news about a man who is very important to Baltimore hip hop, Sonny Brown:
TOMORROW IS A BIG NIGHT AT 5 SEASONS BUT THE GUY WHO MAKES IT HAPPEN WILL NOT BE IN THE BUILDING.
SONNY SUFFERED A MINOR STROKE AND IS IN THE HOSPITAL RIGHT NOW. MYSELF, UNREAL, HGE, AND A FEW OTHERS WENT TO VISIT HIM THIS WEEKEND AND HE IS DOING MUCH BETTER. NOT SURE AT THIS POINT WHEN HE WILL BE RELEASED BUT HOPEFULLY IT WILL BE SOON.
HE WANTS EVERYONE TO KNOW HE IS A SOLDIER AND WILL BOUNCE BACK IN NO TIME.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO WISH HIM WELL OR GO VISIT, HE CAN BE REACHED AT # 443-527-4572
REMINDER: WHILE OUT THERE ON THE GRIND, REMEMBER "HEALTH IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN WEALTH"
ONE LOVE,
ME'AZE MILLIONI
Thank you to Me'aze for spreading the word about this, here's wishing Sonny a full recovery. I was just talking to him about his long-awaited solo project recently and he sounded really excited about it, so we need him in good health to drop that joint and keep hosting all these shows.

Supa Producer Mus' and Me'Aze Millioni - Baltimore's Most Wanted: Hunt For The Best Emcee (Uniquity Productions/Jam Eazey Entertainment)
A few months ago, Musse' Mus' sent me a mixtape that I wrote about here. But already by then, his new project with Me'Aze Millioni, formerly a.k.a. Bosslady, was on the way and I'd been looking forward to that too. The first copy of it that I got was messed up, so I didn't finally get to hear it until I got another copy from Me'Aze this week, but it's nice to finally hear it. It's got some artists I heard for the first time on Mus's last mixtape (B.I.G. Status, Fort Knoxx, Mossburg), some artists I was already familiar with (Labtekwon, UnReal, M.O.L., Ms. Stress, Sonny Brown) and a few that I've never really heard before (Billy Lyve, Kardair, Lil Trife), so it's kind of a nice mix on there. Mus' just produced a handful of the tracks but there's some other good original beats on here too.
Sonny Brown - "Gingabread Man Freestyle" (mp3)
I was kinda hyped to hear this mixtape partly because Me'Aze told me that Sonny Brown shouts me out by name on it, and sure enough, he does in an ad lib during the first chorus of this track (and also on the "Sonny Brown Speaks" track that follows it on the CD). That's never happened to me before so I'm kinda geeked out about it. Thanks for that, Sonny!

B.I.G. Status - Green Day (12/12 Enterprises)
You might remember the B.I.G. Status track I posted from a Musse' Mus' mixtape a few weeks ago (he was also on the Bosslady mixtape I posted about recently). I thought the song I posted was bananas, so I was looking forward to hearing a whole project by him, and I wasn't disappointed by this. There aren't many clear standouts I like as much as "Line Up," but it's pretty consistent. His voice is strong and clear and not particularly unique, but he can flow and it's just straight up aggressive all the way through, might really be one of the best Bmore mixtapes I've heard lately. Comp even makes a little cameo on here. Dude is performing at Coppin State on February 26th and March 3rd, and Kevin Vega from his label, 12/12, has a show on Deep Flow Radio now.
B.I.G. Status - "The Life" (mp3)
Some great original production on here, particularly by Donland Hitmen, and this track is one of my favorites.

Bosslady - On Da Grind Vol. 4 (Jam Eazey Ent./House-Of-Platinum Records)
Bosslady, a.k.a. Me'Aze Millioni has made a lot of moves in Bmore as a label owner, host, and show promoter over the past couple years, including the Baltimore State Of Grind compilation. But she's always repped the whole region, including the rest of Maryland and Washington and Virginia, and she covers that whole territory with the latest installment from the On Da Grind series. There are a handful of Baltimore artists on here that I'm familiar with (UnReal, Ms. Stress, Teop, Unstoppable Nuklehidz, Mossburg) and some D.C. artists I know of (Mr. White Folkz, Raheem Devaughn), but a lot of it is unfamiliar folks to me, who I figure are mostly from D.C. or VA. The CD opens with a nice intro track for Bosslady that blends a nice choice of beats (Slim Thug's "Like A Boss," Shareefa's "I Need A Boss," Kelis's "Bossy"), good idea, maybe Bossman should get that track for a freestyle. Look out for Bosslady's new mixtape with Musse' Mus' dropping real soon as well as her new DVD, Pass Da Mic.
Drakkar - "Who The Fuck I Am" (mp3)
Drakkar is the teenage rapper who won Rod Lee's talent search last year. Nice to finally hear some of his music, I'm kinda impressed by this track.

Musse' Mus' presents Rep Ur State Vol. 1 East Coast City Edition (Beats The Hard Way Music/Uniquity Productions)
Musse' Mus' (which is apparently pronounced like Moosey Moose) is a producer who e-mailed me a while back about his music. Last year he released a various artists mixtape on which he produced most of the tracks (aside from "Post Up" by Dirty Hartz, which was produced by Debonair Samir), similiar to Darkroom Productions' two Hamsterdam mixtapes. He's got another mixtape dropping soon, hosted by Bosslady, called Baltimore's Most Wanted, again with most tracks by Super Producer Mus', but this one has been out since last year. There are some artists I'm familiar with on here like Mr. Whitefolkz and Don Brody, as well as a hot track with Bossman and Grafh on it, along with a lot of MCs I haven't heard of, some of whom are pretty good and I might have to start checkin' for. Check out Musse' Mus's label Uniquity Productions for more info.
B.I.G. Status - "Line Up" (mp3)
Bosslady actually send me a mixtape by B.I.G. Status that I haven't listened to yet, but it looks like this track isn't on it, and it's probably my favorite track on this CD.
