as heard on The Wire: part 5
It's now time to conclude this series of posts, at least until the next season of The Wire starts in 2008, with a couple songs that are featured in the season finale, episode 50, which airs tomorrow night at 10. Another Darkroom-produced track by some non-Baltimore artists, "I'm A Baller" by Sqad Up featuring B.G., also appears in this episode, but I don't have an mp3 of that handy. Also check out A rough guide to the connections between HBO's The Wire and Baltimore hip hop and some of my thoughts on the finale over on Narrowcast.
Tha Plague - "Get Em Mami" (mp3)
Another joint by Darkroom Productions (an early version of the same beat was also used for an unreleased UnReal song called "Just Like That"). I'm not sure if Tha Plague are actually still a group, but it seems that since last year's mixtape, 2 of their members, Roxzi and Symph, have begun performing under the name G.E.M.
Mullyman - "The Life, The Hood, The Streetz" (mp3)
I first posted this song when it appeared on Mully's mixtape earlier this year, but this is the proper track right off the CD single. He just did a video shoot last week for the song, which is in the last scene of the last episode of the season.
