This weekend Frank Ski is coming back to Baltimore to DJ at Mike Crosby's birthday party on Sunday. A few months ago Plum Drank posted a picture of Frank Ski's promo hummer from a car show and I explained to him how before Ski moved to ATL in '98 for a bigger radio market he was a big deal in Bmore. He was doing radio here in the late 80's/early 90's and was supposedly the first DJ to bring a lot of house music from Chicago and NYC to D.C./Baltimore and popularize it, and really helped birth Baltimore club music with "Whores In This House" and "Do Do Brown" (although it's up for debate what the first Bmore club track(s) really are and whether those count since they originated as part of a radio morning show). Carmelo's also throwing a birthday party at some club tonight, sounds like half the NBA is gonna be in town this weekend.
