I wrote a bunch of stuff in the last City Paper issue of 2012, including a Baltimore club-heavy edition of my dance music column BPM, a feature on Maryland hard rock veterans Kix, who are playing Rams Head Live this weekend, and The Short List of all the other shows worth checking out this week.

I wrote about a post on the City Paper's Noise blog about a couple of Christmas songs released this year by Baltimore artists: the soul group Brooks Long & The Mad Dog No Good, and indie rapper Jumbled.

The Baltimore City Paper's annual Top Ten issue is out this week, and I helped with the music lists, of which there were many. In the Top Ten Albums list, I wrote blurbs about Miguel and Dead Sara, and in the Top Ten Local Albums list, I wrote about Dan Deacon and Lower Dens. But this year we also did something new: a bunch of Top Ten Releases By Genre lists, including my Top Ten Local Hip-Hop Albums and Top Ten Baltimore Club Tracks.
Also in this week's issue, I wrote a feature about the artist who topped my Local Hip-Hop list, Von Vargas, and as usual, The Short List of the concerts to check out in the city this week.
